Plaid and lace; that’s what this painting reminds me of. That unlikely but charming combination can be seen in any line dancing party, along with denim and cowboy boots. The blue border brings the denim in, and the sturdy pot stands in for the sturdy footwear. None of this was intentional, mind you, it’s all in my subconscious, which gets tapped whenever I pick up a paintbrush with a plan to ‘just play’ and follow my gut.
