A delightful surprise appeared when I was frustrated with another painting and took a break to return to my favorite subject and favorite technique: flowers in vases on tables, ink and wash. I had no plan other than to move myself past the frustration. It was near bedtime, and I knew I would brood over that other painting throughout a wakeful night. Not good. This painting turned that around.
